The (Not So) Funny Side of PCOS

Living with PCOS can be tough. There are the physical symptoms, like irregular periods, weight gain, and hair loss. There are the emotional symptoms, like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. And then there are the everyday annoyances, like having to explain your condition to everyone you meet.

But even though PCOS can be a challenge, there are also some funny moments along the way. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • When you're trying to explain PCOS to someone and they just don't get it. "So, you have too many eggs? But you're not pregnant?"

  • When you're trying to find clothes that fit and you realise that you're basically a walking stereotype. Leggings, tunics, and oversized sweaters, oh my!

  • When you're trying to have a conversation with someone and they keep staring at your chin hairs. "Do you have a question?"

  • When you're trying to lose weight and your body is like, "LOL, no." "I'm trying to help you, body! Why are you sabotaging me?"

But even though there are some funny moments, PCOS can also be a serious condition. If you're struggling with PCOS, please know that you're not alone. There are plenty of resources available to help you manage your symptoms and live a healthy life.

And if you ever need a good laugh, just remember these funny moments. Because even though PCOS can be tough, it's also possible to find the humour in it.

Here are some additional funny things that people with PCOS might say:

  • "I'm so tired of people asking me if I'm pregnant."

  • "I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad that I can grow a beard."

  • "I'm pretty sure my hair has its own gravitational pull."

  • "I'm going to start a new fashion line called 'Leggings for Every Occasion.'"

  • "I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has to deal with this."

If you have PCOS, I hope you can find some humour in your situation. It's not always easy, but it can help to lighten the load. And who knows, you might even make someone else laugh along the way.
