Christmas is upon us and it is a time that affects us all, but for those of us with PCOS, it is a time of emotional ups and downs and a roller coaster for our health if you don’t watch what you are eating. It can be difficult to resist the increased food temptations for those sweet, rich and decadent foods, especially for those with PCOS who are trying to manage their weight and blood sugar levels.
However, we can navigate this season and make healthy choices (At least some anyway)
Additionally, there are the social pressures. The holidays can be a time of social pressure to look and feel your best. This can be especially difficult for women with PCOS who may be struggling with body image issues due to their symptoms. Invitations may come to go to various dinners and events where the food options may not be good for you. But if you are trying to keep on the healthy side, there are many options nowadays that are gluten free and additionally have all the different vegetarian options. Most people and places are also very open and educated to different diets, so it is worth having a word with the food provider before you arrive anywhere or even take your own.
To help with cooking, there are a growing number of recipes on our website to help you get through most occasions, but as it is the season to be joyful, please try the Honey and glazed Ham. It is a gluten free option and is filling and beautiful. You can eat this warmed up and it can be eaten sliced up in sandwiches.
The most important thing to do is enjoy yourself and spend time with loved ones and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Que for the eye roll:
Why did the PCOS elf get fired from the Walking stick factory?
Because he kept making candy canes!
Enjoy The season! With Love From Polysisters
